Angel Flight East is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization comprised of volunteer pilots, ground volunteers and a small staff dedicated to serving the community by facilitating free air transportation for seriously ill patients who need to get to treatment far from home. Our pilots fly them to the medical facilities needed for their evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of their medical conditions free of charge.
Founded in 1992, in response to community needs after Hurricane Andrew, local pilots formed Angel Flight East as a non profit. We flew 17 missions during that first year and have continued to grow the service each year. With more than 425 volunteer pilots, based in 22 states, over 750 missions were coordinated last year.
Angel Flight East conducts operations from Maine to the Carolinas and west to Ohio. For destinations beyond our reach, we link with other volunteer pilot organizations. Anyone who requests a flight must be medically stable, able to board an aircraft and fly in a small single or twin engine aircraft. Our volunteer pilots use their private planes to fly our patients to their destinations. These men and women pay for all expenses for each flight request.

"The mission of Angel Flight East is to provide free air transportation to qualified patients and their families by arranging flights to distant medical facilities, delivering supplies to disaster areas and reuniting families during desperate times."
